Veteran's Day and other Patriotic events are on the Horizon in October and November, please study up on Drill and Ceremonies for these activities.

La Posada de Kingsville Night Parade. Deadline for entry is 26 November 2011. The parade itself is on Saturday 9 December 2011 at 1900 hrs. A discussion of how we will light the parade column and any drill will be made and posted on this blog.
A CAP Color Guard will need to be aleart at all times in event that the posting of the Colors is necessary.

UP COMING EVENTS:

La Posada de Kingsville Night Parade.  Deadline for entry is 26 November 2011.  The parade itself is on Saturday 9 December 2011 at 1900 hrs.  A discussion of how we will light the parade column and any drill will be made and posted on this blog.

FLIGHT ASSIGNMNENT WILL BE MADE NEXT WEEK.  Assignments will be posted on the blog and around the school.  FLight Sergeants will have a staff meeting to discuss this.

SAFETY BRIEFING:  The Nature of Fire and Safety when Cooking.  Also taking care of equipment.

I. Set up CAMP:  A detail of cadets will set up the tarp, a second detail will address the tables and organize cook equipment.

II.  COOK FIRES:  Three cadets will be assigned to monitor the BBQ pits with a 4th cadet serving as a runner.  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS A CADET TO ABABDON THEIR POST.

III.  COOK/MESS AREAS:  A detail will set up the tables for food prep and eating.

IV: CLEAN UP: DETAILS WILL CLEAN BY REVERSING ROLES.  ALL EQUIPMENTS and UTENSILS USED WILL BE CLEANED, WASHED AND ORGANIZED AT CAP STATION KINGSVILLE.

Coastal Bend Cadets Posts Colors at Kingsville Airfair

Kingsville, Texas- Cadets from the Coastal Bend Cadet Squadron posted the colors at the 2nd Annual Kleberg Co. Airport Air Show on Saturday 27 August 2011 starting off that day’s activities. The Color Guard was lead by C/SSgt Robert Alcantara, who carried the US Flag Colors.

This was the second year the unit fielded the colors that the airport having done so in its inaugural year. Presenting the colors is when the US and Civil Air Patrol flags are presented at the opening of an event, such as a football game or, in this case, a mini-airshow.

The presenting of the colors is usually followed by the playing of the Star Spangled Banner and/or the Pledge of Allegiance and requires special protocol. Protocol refers to special actions one takes out of respect or tradition.

This was Cadet Alcantara’s first command of the Unit Color Guard since taking command of the detail from C/SSgt Savahanna Jimenez who graduated to the HM King High School. C/A1C Sarah Del Valle, of Rivera, carried the CAP Colors. Cadets Ricardo Gonzalez and Tristan Wolfe served as guards carrying the unit’s new M-14 Drill Rifles. Adding an additional element to the occasion, C/A1C Jon Stillwagon marched in as “the lone airman” representing the determination of service to Community, State and Nation.

This was the second airfair hosted by Kleberg Co. Airport.  Free hot dogs and other confections were offered by the Patriot Riders, a motorcycle club consisting of veterans and their supporters.  The Lions Club and Critters, a local pet emporium, was also on hand with some creatures for amusement.

This year featured a "AIR PLANE BOX DERBY RACE" for youngsters that allowed folks to race in specially designed and decorated refrigerator boxes.
