COASTAL BEND CADET SQUADRON MEETING AGENDA: 19 JANUARY 2012

"The hardest part about being a good outstanding person is that those that cannot be so are offended by your example.  This makes them do and say things against you to 'bring them back to their level' since they refuse to rise to your standard and can't stand you ourshining them.  Integrity is that strength to 'push back' and do what is right despite this pressure."    -Major Joe Ely Carrales, CAP   January 2012

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Parade 12 JANUARY 2012

The COASTAL BEND CADET SQUADRON will march in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade in DOWNTOWN KINGSVILLE on MONDAY, 16 JANUARY 2012. Cadets are to meet in the vicinity of the KLEBERG CO. COURTHOUSE at 1230L hrs (12:30 pm) in complete BDU uniform. Cadets should wear thermal clothing under their uniform if they feel it is too cold.

Major Carrales will be unable to transport cadets from MEMORIAL MIDDLE SCHOOL to the Court House because he will be moving equipment for the color guard.

Students should make arrangements to be in downtown Kingsville at the appointed time.

This parade holds special meaning for the squadron since it was the MLK parade back in 2007 that saw the first parade outing for the then BRAHMA FLIGHT (the original name of the COASTAL BEND CADET SQUADRON when the Kingsville Unit was part of CORPUS CHRISTI COMPOSITE SQUADRON.

Every attempt should be made to insure uniforms are presentable since this will be a daytime parade.

Flight of the Week- WEEK I -11 JAN 2012

Current flight rating as of 11 Juan 2012- Major Carrales added several points to the totals of 10 January to refelct flight members who completed OPSEC, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TRAINING and some quick questioning.  Alpha flight is in the lead with 105 points, followed by Charlie with 88 points and Bravo trails with 75 points.  Charlie flight shows the most dynamic changes in advancing in most catergories while Alpha has depended on their superior drill to win.  Bravo, while trailing in last place, however is the most firmly established in terms of uniform presentation and appearance.

1st Position: Alpha Flight started 10 January the day with a very poor 22 Points and trailed the bulk of the day due to the lack of uniformed members for some given reason.  They, however, were able to infuse a good deal of points by winning two rounds of the drill game "Knock out" where they swept earning a total of 97 points.

2nd Position: Charlie Flight started with 24 points maintained an excellent consistancy with the highest points in uniform wear and appearance.  The also had the highest points in special awards answering specific questions about the nature of the Civil Air Patrol.  The ended with a very strong 77 points which places them in in second place poised for a stiff competition with Alpha, which would have to win several games on knockout to win the day.

3rd Position: Bravo Flight began the day with 29 points and the lead posting the highest scores in uniform presentation and administration.  They maintained the high score until they lost their lead on Administration losing point for a very unprofessional sign in roster.  Thy well to third place once they were unable to secure a win on knockout being surpassed by Alpha flights sweep of the knockout  challenge.  They closed their lead with a few questions on Civil Air Patrol but ended the day with 69 points.

The competition will continue on Thursday were Cadets will have a mission and be given a final score on their Administrative paperwork, Mission Completion  and maybe even promotions.  Due to the nature of the points, they will have to maintain EXCELENCE in their given areas and IMPROVE those that are weak.
