April 12th 2011 Meeting and Promotions

Promotions

Congratulations are in order for Cadets Phelps and Ortiz as they passed their required tests to be promoted to:

Cadet Airmen Phelps --> Cadet Airmen 1st Class Phelps

Cadet Airmen First Class Ortiz --> Cadet Senior Airmen Ortiz

Promotions are a time to acknowledge achievement but also increased responsibility. I am extremely proud of the cadets for going up in rank and look forward to more promotions before I leave the second week of May back to Dyess AFB.

Prospective New Cadets:

The Corpus Christi Squadron had a bunch of surprise potential recruits this past Tuesday. Two cadets were 11 years, one will turn 12 in May and another in August. They are extremely dedicated to becoming cadets and want to continue to come to meetings to learn all they can about the cadet program.

The cadets showed their leadership skills by introducing the cadets to drill and ceremony, and after Captain Guadalupe played a game of KnockOut with the cadets and prospective cadets. They did excellent, the cadets taught them well.

Afterwards the cadets and prospective cadets all discussed the importance and meaning of leadership. It was a very eye opening and heart felt discussion by all cadets and senior members. After this discussion (which lasted for over an hour), Cadet Lidy was presented with his surprise for winning the KnockOut competitions during the air show. Captain Guadalupe presented Cadet Lidy with a Flan de Queso (which takes a very long time to make). This desert is a Puerto Rican delicacy and is not made often. He elected to share with everyone present and it was a great time!!

Pictures to come!!

Congrats on the promotions! Onwards and UPWARDS. Looking forward to Buc Days and seeing the new stripes in action!!! Should be noted that Cadet Ortiz commanded the back line at the La Posada De Kingsville Parade earlier this year!
